Max is such an awesome dog. He is 7 years young and weighs 75 pounds – a great big bundle of love and licks. Max is a mix of Great Dane and Boxer, with a pinch of other breeds potentially in the mix (Black Mouth Cur, Pitbull). He is very healthy, and has been fixed, fully vaccinated and microchipped.

Max is very well behaved. He is house broken and crate trained. He is a very sweet and devoted dog.

Max had a very rough beginning in life. He was rescued at the 11th hour from being euthanized when he was just 1 year old. He had been living on the streets when he was placed in a shelter. At the time, he was so malnourished that his he was almost 50 pounds underweight.

His well-meaning owners did not have the time or environment for him, and he spent most of his first 3 years in a crate. They placed him for adoption and he found his way into the hearts and home of his current family, who have spoiled him rotten and given him lots of love, care, attention, nutrition and exercise.

Sadly, since welcoming their first child to the family, it has become apparent that Max has anxiety around small children. He is not aggressive at all, but reacted in “self defence” when the little 13 month old girl tried to hug him. She received a nip on her eyebrow. As much as his owners love Max, they are not willing to take the chance of their little one being bitten again. They are planning to have more children, so the situation is not ideal for Max and they want to find him the right home in which he will continue to thrive.

Max family are dearly hoping to find him the home that he deserves. He has so much love and companionship to offer in his forever home. The ideal situation for Max would be a home with a large, securely fenced yard (acreage or farm would be great as well!). He needs to be in a home without small children. He would thrive with a solid routine. Knowing what to expect at what time of the day will really reduce any anxiety he has.

This is a very special dog that deserves a special home. Please offer Max his forever home today. He can’t wait to add love, joy, laughter and companionship to your life.
